When clothing covers the body's unique features, jewelry can provide the wearer with a way to express the uniqueness lost in the uniformity of clothes. But jewelry can sometimes seem arbitrary and unrelated to the wearer's identity: for example, why does someone choose hoop earrings over dangly ones?
I created a series of cloth body marks: moles, scars, and birthmarks, that people could pin onto their clothing as a way of making themselves unique in a form that actually relates directly back to their own physical identity.
